You Have to Wait for the Right Answer
The slow and accurate or fast and sloppy carries over to basic communications. I once saw a motivational speaker that concentrated on breaking people into different “Color Groups.” I quickly related those groups to the astrological Qualities.
The speaker had everyone self administer a quiz that placed them into categories. He asked the people who thought they were in the sales category to put there hands up. A bunch of hands shot up. He then asked the manager category to put their hands up. A different set of hands went up. He then asked the technical category to put their hands up. A couple of hands went up and then more and more slowly went up. The speaker finally said “Would you stop thinking about it and just put your hands up!” He then made the point that the technical category tend to be afraid to give a wrong answer. So they think about it for some time before answering and/or they make a bunch of disclaimers before answering.
My wife is a Mutable/Tech Sign. She appraises homes for a living. People constantly ask her opinion regarding the value of their home, what improves the value, or what the value is of a house they are looking at. They are just looking for a general answer that they are not going to hold her to. They never get it from her.
She usually tells them that it depends on the area the house is in, what the comparables are like, what condition the house is in, etc. She fights giving an answer until she does a complete appraisal. Even then she makes the disclaimer that that figure is not necessarily what they would get if they sold their house.
A Cardinal/Sales person would be more likely to quickly throw out a ball park figure. It may not be right, but you would get an answer. People will often see the Cardinal person as being smarter because of their quick and confident response, even though their responses may not be well thought out. This would make them more apt to be promoted than Mutables.
