Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover
The best way to learn astrology is to observe people. Try to compare and contrast them to other people whose astrology you know. Avoid observing celebrities. You only see them from a far. Concentrate on people that you associate with on a regular basis and can get a “feel” of their personality. I say “feel” because a person’s body language and mannerisms tell a lot about them. Don’t forget that my descriptions need to be translated into your own verbiage.
For example, when I tell Cardinal signed people that they are a “Sales Sign,” they frequently reply that they hate sales so astrology must be wrong. My wife hates it when I say that she is a “Tech Sign.” Being a “Sales Sign” doesn’t mean that you have to be a sales person and being a “Tech Sign” doesn’t mean that you love computers, ware glasses, and don’t comb your hair.
While on vacation, my wife and I met two girls. One was a Libra (Cardinal) and the other was a Scorpio (Fixed). When I mentioned that the Libra was the “Sales Sign,” the Libra said that she hated sales. The Scorpio pointed out that she had the best sales in her company and that she was more outgoing. They did not agree with my assessment of their personalities.
Later in the conversation, the Scorpio pointed out that at parties her Libra friend would bounce from person to person while she would just talk to one person all night. I pointed out that was the “sales” aspect of the Libra. You generally want sales people contacting as many people as possible to generate leads for your company. That would be a typical roll of a sales person. The Scorpio was not acting like a “sales person” because she only associated with one person.
Don’t let people’s career or whether they are talkative or not cloud your vision. Keep in mind that any two people can make a relationship work and anyone can do any job. The issue is how natural it is and/or how they do it.
My brothers own a company selling engineering software. The majority of their sales people are Cardinal or Sales signs. By the way, my brothers are not sold on astrology. It is just coincidental that my brothers’ sales people are Cardinals. One of their sales people happens to be a Sagittarius, which is a Mutable or “Tech Sign.” That person is successful at sales, but does sales in a different manner. The other sales people are more outgoing, aggressive, and seem to love being the center of attention. The Sagittarius is more reserved and allows the customer to take front stage. Both are effective sales approaches, but one is more in line with the stereotypical sales person.
My brother once hired a person that he was confident was going to be a good sales person. The person was well spoken, smart, confident, and dressed nicely. I noticed that this person was a Virgo, making him a Mutable or “Tech Sign.” I cautioned my brother that he may be a better application engineer.
Application engineers are responsible for knowing the software inside and out. They often assist sales people with the technical aspect of the sale. They do the software demonstrations in sales presentations, provide technical support after the sale, and train the customers on the software. Application engineers are part of the sales process, but they do not do the actual “Sales.” By “Sales,” I mean generating leads, contacting the customer, setting up presentations, sending quotes out to the customer, following up with the customer, and other non-technical activities.
This person, the Virgo, tried sales but was unhappy with it. He switched over to being an application engineer and turned out to be the best application engineer in my brothers’ company. He has even won international competitions on his knowledge of the software. The person truly loves his job. He actually plays with the software at home for entertainment.
People often confuse being talkative as being like a “Sales” person. I have a brother that is a Virgo (Mutable) and is very talkative. However, he often has harshness and passion in his conversation that tends to repel people. On the other hand, I have a Libra friend that often seems very shy and timid. If I go to the bar with him though, people nearly always approach him before me. He just has that natural likeability factor that is common to all Cardinal signs. My brother and I, like other Mutables, do not posses that trait.
