My Dad's Funeral
My dad, Richard Allen Darbyshire, passed away January 21, 2019. This was somewhat expected. He has been ill for the past couple of years. He was 88 years old and the first in my immediate family to pass away. I had the honor of presiding over his funeral service.
My dad was an interesting person and challenging to eulogize. I received some help from two of my brothers-in-law, my niece, and a friend who also spoke. We told the story of how my dad transition from a father we feared to the old man that became silly around his grandchildren.
The number of people that showed up to the funeral was amazing! My mom and dad made a wonderful family. It was truly a special day.
